Zsuzsanna Jakabos

I was born in Pécs, on 3 April 1989. I grew up in a sporty family, as both my parents were athletes. My mum works as a Deputy Director at a primary school; my dad is a retired PE teacher. Thanks to my parents, I played a lot in the long jump pit – still, I became a swimmer, although it wasn't a conscious decision.

I learnt to swim late, at the age of 8, at the ANK Swimming Club in Pécs, where my trainer Dr. Petrov Anatoliy trained me for 12 years. I achieved my first major success at the European Youth Olympic Festival, from which I returned with three gold medals.

In the following years I won the European Youth Championship four times. I was 15 when I participated in the Olympic Games in Athens, and then in 2008 my freestyle relay team achieved a scoring position at the Beijing Olympic Games. I won silver four times at European Championships, and I'm a two-time European Champion in short course swimming.

At the London Olympic Games I came in 7th in 200 metres butterfly. At World Championships (2011, 2013) I achieved 5th place twice and 6th place three times. Currently I am preparing for my fourth Olympic Games in Győr, and I'm also a corresponding student at Wekerle Sándor Business College.
